Chapter I: You got red on you.
I am an Australian born Englishman a Graphic designer, Illustrator and Musician.
In 2006 was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, this destroyed my world and made me mental.
Then in 2010 Minecraft was released...
---
Chapter I cont...
I was still mental (arguably more so) and riddled with diabetes, but this game appealed to my near obsessive need for order and predictability in my chaotic existence.
My creativity (one of few redeeming traits) was satiated and my life began to change...
---
Chapter II: Where is my mind?
1st I set about modifying the textures to de-noise and remove all non right angles.
Then after all the splines were sufficiently reticulated I started familiarising myself with redstone mechanics...
---
Chapter II cont...
I started to build crazy giant contraptions.
I had no knowledge of electronics, binary or logic gates but I found it really intuitive in this computer game context.
The functionality wasn't important there was beauty in contraption itself.
---
Chapter III: The begining of the end.
On July 30th 2011 I decided to share on a small upcomming video site called Youtube.
Starting with the 5 Channel Music Sequencer, my 1st video had gone viral within the week. A second video (PP Slot machine) 2 weeks later did even better.
---
Chapter III: cont...
After my 3rd video (Programmable Piano) went viral, the Youtube overlords took notice and sent me a message, "You are invited to join the Youtube Partnership Program!"
That's nice, can I has money now plox?
---
Chapter IV: The Well of Destiny
That September, I made a giant stone temple featuring
@notch's face that would bestow his judgment upon thee for either reward or condemnation.
This video went mental and has recently reached 15M views. People started to pay attention...
---
Chapter IV: cont...
However, that attention comes at a price.
Expectations had risen, demand was high. I started to feel anything I created needed to be bigger and better than the last.
This was, in retrospect a poor read of the situation i was in.
My output began to slow.
---
Chapter V: We're gonna need a bigger boat.
My 5 minutes had got an extention.
I bought pro editing software, a new PC and learnt to produce and edit video.
I was creating crazier and more ambitous machines, filming them in new interesting ways.
Not good enough, try again.
